NEW DFOA FOOTBALL OFFCIALS INFO

Hello All:

Here is important information. Please review all of it.

1. Game Assignments – If you still need games, please use self-assign in Arbiter or contact the sub-varsity assignors at aleto38676@aol.com.

2.  Rookie Scrimmage – Saturday, August 22 at 9 am at EchoPark Stadium in Parker. Wear your uniform – coaches shorts, belt, striped shirt, hat, black socks, black/white turf shoes, flag, whistle, and bean bag. Veterans will be available to mentor and assist you on the field. The scrimmage will last 2-3 hours.

3. Meet The Assignors And Crew Chiefs – Tuesday, August 11 at 6 pm at Englewood HS. Please come and meet the assignors and DFOA Crew Chiefs so we can start to get to know each other and you can learn more about officiating in DFOA. Then stay for the 7 pm DFOA Area meeting.

4. Mandatory Tests – You must attempt the Mechanics Test and Non-Playoff Rules test which are accessed on the CFOA website – www.CFOAonline.com. You must use the same email address you use in Arbiter to login, but your password may be different. The tests are open book and you have two attempts to pass each test. If you fail one or both, DON’T WORRY, you can still officiate this year and then retake them next year. Feel free to contact the Denver Area Directors or any of the officials copied on this email with questions – we love to talk about and explain football mechanics and rules! The deadline to complete the tests is prior to your first game.

5. RefReps Training and Rule Books/Mechanics Manual – If you registered with CFOA, you should be enrolled in and actively completing RefReps training. You should also have received the CFOA Mechanics Manual and NFHS Rule Book and Case Book. Study these materials to learn the mechanics and rules used in high school football.

6. Uniforms – Uniform suppliers are available online. Honig’s and Gr8 Call have local stores where you can try on uniforms and purchase in person. You don’t need pants until the weather turns cooler but you will need black coaches shorts and a belt – NO GYM SHORTS.

7. Websites and Meeting Information – The CFOA website also has a calendar with information about statewide Webex meetings during the season. The first meeting is August 19. DFOA has a website – www.denverfootballofficials.com. This website also had a calendar with information about the Denver Area meetings. The first one is August 11. You must earn 5 meeting credits each year – RefReps training counts as one credit so you must attend four additional meetings – either CFOA or DFOA count.

Please reach out with any questions or concerns. We want you to have a successful season and grow to love football officiating as much as we do!
